Winter Solstice 2016

Winter Solstice

The darkness curse it not,
Of us it’s unaware.
Unseeing obscure veil,
Deep in its murky lair
Knows nor cares our lot.

Succumb not to its lure
This longest, darkest night,
But watchful vigil keep
And turn not from the light
For darkness is no cure.

Kindle instead a spark,
Blow spark into blue flame:
Beam of hopeful light.
Speak love and peace by name
And push against the dark.

And if all humankind
Light candles in the dark,
Kindle a hopeful flame,
A fiery, blazing arc,
Then perhaps we will find

Just as the wintry sun
Grows stronger by the day
And light will conquer dark,
Strife’s days will soon be done
And peace well on its way.

When it's cold, dark and gray,
                 I stay inside all day.
When I feel the sun's warm ray,
                 I go outside to play.

All is Quite Dark

This I clearly see:
Power's brutality,
Torture's inhumanity,
War's insanity.
This I do clearly see.

This I loudly hail:
Ler human rights prevail,
Let social justice prevail,
Let peace prevail.
This I do loudly hail.

This too, I rightly know:
Let winds blow,
Let rivers flow,
Let trees grow.
This I do rightly know.

All is quite dark:
It could and should be light,
The old's a blight in flight,
The new's not yet in sight.
All is quite dark.

Epigrams:

Hope burns eternal and so does hell.

Candor is a lantern in the dark.

Humans are not good and/or evil,
They choose to be either or both.

There is nothing that does not have its plus and its minus.

-JM

Light a candle in the dark;
Be the light you wish to see.

There are no Northern Lights without the dark.
